Inverness Flower Festival
The 2012 Inverness Flower Show takes place at Inverness High School on the 25th and 26th August and will have items of interest for all the family alongside its traditional vegetable, flower, honey, produce and craft exhibits.

The 2012 event will showcase exhibits from the Inverness Horticultural Society, Inverness Floral Art Club, Highland Bonsai Society, Inverness-shire Bee-keepers Association and Highlands and Islands Cactus and Succulents Society.

Carole Taylor, chairman of the Inverness Horticultural Society, said she was delighted with the increased number of junior exhibits at last year’s show. “Last year’s show was a great success and it was super to see so many youngsters taking part. The increased number of junior exhibits means that we have moved these sections into the main hall this year, where there is more space. We have also expanded the schedule for junior exhibitors and added new age groupings so hope to see even more wonderful exhibits from children this year. All junior exhibitors winning a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize will be awarded a rosette. The poor weather this summer has given our gardening exhibitors an additional challenge but I am confident we will have top class entries this year again.”

The school garden competition has been judged and the winners will be announced at the show. WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) will be on hand to give advice on composting and recycling and children can have a go at making their own posy from fresh flowers. Tea, coffee and cakes will also be on sale. The new Provost will present the cups and prizes at 3.30pm on Sunday.

The Show will be open to the public on Saturday 25th from 1.30 to 6.00pm and Sunday 30th from 12 noon to 4.00pm, August 2012. Admission for adults is £3.00, senior citizens £2.50, under 18’s 50p and under 5’s free.
