Ceòlas Summer School | Isle of Uist - 12:30
Expert tuition in piping, fiddle, song, dance and the Gaelic language are offered over a backdrop of community events, including cèilidhs, concerts and guided walks. Tutors from Cape Breton in Canada are an important part of the summer school, and represent the reunion of the global Gaelic Diaspora. Classes run from 9am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday and are followed a range of evening events.

Inverness Highland Games | Bught Park, Inverness - 11.00 - 18.00
Founded in 1822 the Inverness Highland Games is one of the biggest and most spectacular traditional gatherings staged in Scotland; and 2017 looks like being one of the most unforgettable events yet. The show opens with a spectacular opening ceremony at 12:00 which includes a Mass Highland Fling that everybody is invited to join in. With something for everybody and lots of surprises during the course of 6hours of unforgettable entertainment; a visit to the Inverness Highland Games contains everything you would expect at a traditional Highland Games and a whole lot more. You will get the chance to take a Zip Slide over the River Ness and enter our Wheelbarrow Races in front of the main stand. Your admission gives you the chance to enter one of our track events so if you want an unforgettable experience why not take part in our 100m race with your fiends. You will be able to explore Scotland's biggest Inter Clan Gathering; our famous Craft Fair; look for treatsures in our Traders Village and enjoy music in our Gathering Tent. With massed pipe bands, solo piping and a full programme of track and field and Heavy Events and Highland Dancing Competitions; you will quickly discover why a day on the banks of the River Ness with us is regarded as one of the highlights of any visit to the Highlands. (Due to parking restrictions due to the Bryan Adams Concert site build - we recommend that you allow yourself time to park in our city centre and stroll along the banks of the River Ness to Bught Park)

The Inverness Gala will be followed this year by the eagerly anticipated Bryan Adams concert (see other listing for details) and is expected to attract one of the biggest crowds since it was founded 3 years ago. This year's Gala will feature the Shinty Sixes and Highlands Strongest Man and Strongest Woman Competitions in the Main Arena and a full afternoon of traditional Highland entertainment and have a go activities. You will be able to try Trampoling, Shinty and Rugby Sevens; and if you are feeling brave you can try the Zip Slide over the River Ness before you explore our Traders Village; Community Clan Village Craft Fair; Beer Tent and Funfair. Admission is FREE and you might just get to hear one of the most famous bands in the world doing their soundchecks!
